Trade Joey Gallo with the Dodgers

SAN FRANCISCO – In search of a left-handed racket, the Dodgers acquired a Yankees player Joey Gallo In exchange for the right hand Clayton Peter, the No. 15 Possibility On the organization’s per-MLB Pipeline, the club announced ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.

“A year ago, he was worth a lot in the industry, [he] Andrew Friedman, president of baseball operations, said the Dodgers. “It’s still a real talent level. We feel we bring him here, we bring him with our guys, there’s a really compelling positive story.”

The Dodgers came to the day in hopes of executing a great business deal for Juan Soto. With Soto joining contender Padres, Chief of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman had to move on to another target.

Gallo, a two-time All-Star, had a nightmare season with the Yankees, averaging 0.19 with 12 heads. The 28-year-old is known for his strength, but he has not been able to capitalize on this season. His average exit speed is 88.4 mph this season, the lowest since the 2016 season when he was limited to just 17 games.

Despite Gallo’s struggles over the past year, the Dodgers hope a change of scenery will help the player return to his old form. Prior to joining the Yankees last July, Gallo was an All-Star and had a 25-man .869 OPS team with the Rangers. He was also an All-Star in 2019, scoring a career high of .986 OPS.

“I think, obviously, [he has] Friedman said: “He made a really good decision in the penalty area, a really good defender on the field and had some swing and miss in his game, for sure. I think just getting into a different environment, our batsmen are as good as they get. … And all year round we were They are a little short on the field. So adding a really good defensive player helps too.”

How the Dodgers find a consistent playing time for Gallo will be intriguing. With Chris Taylor still on the injured list, Gallo will split time with Tracee Thompson on left field. Gallo, who hits .102 against lefties, will not play against southern chairs. However, he has 11 out of 12 right-hand bathroom owners.

When Taylor returns, Gallo’s role may be affected. The Dodgers could also have Taylor or Thompson in a more center position, relegating struggling Cody Bellinger to a faction role. James Ottman, who made a historic start to his career, could be the odd man out once Taylor returns.

Lamb scored a .770 OPS and hit two homers in 25 games with the Dodgers this season. Given that Gallo is a free agent at the end of the season, the Dodgers view the move as a low-risk, high-reward move.

“He’s going to play and I’ve got to find a way to divide up playing time for all these players,” said Dave Roberts, Dodgers manager. “My request for him was just to embrace this new opportunity, a new beginning.”

Beeter, 23, has a 5.75 ERA in 18 appearances (16 starts) with Double-A Tulsa this season.
