Jeff Novitzky, a federal steroid cop, decided to turn in his badge to accept cleanup duties in the lucrative and wild cage fighting world.
Novitzky will be Ultimate Fighting Championships’ athlete health and performance vice president, the largest mixed martial arts promoter to date. The UFC announced in a surprising post last Monday on their website, that Novitzky will lead a new program that is designed in ensuring all athletes that competes are with only natural abilities to make sure that there is always a fair playing field.
Novitzky, a Food and Drug Administration criminal investigator since 2008, at first didn’t comment about the matter. For 12 years, he was considered to be a major driving force on the crackdown on Olympic and professional sports doping.
The press release of the UFC quoted Novitzky stating that he is thrilled to be part of an organization which is committed to making sure that all UFC athletes play fairly and cleanly.
The release also stated that by July, the UFC’s improved program will be implemented.
Novitzky also stated that he is confident that their organization will create new gold standards when it comes to testing and implementation. He also added that the new program is very sustainable and a fairer playing field will benefit all athletes.
