“Students, you are the future of India. You should make India into a better country, we have so many problems in our country today-poverty, corruption………” etc.

This is what I have been hearing from years together on every National festival from every chief guest. How far do people act on it? I do not know.

They claim proudly that India’s future is totally on the shoulders of the youth, how far do you think it is practical? Almost all are busy in making dummy bags of engineers, doctors, CAs, Entrepreneurs etc. Which parent tells his son to be a Politician?

Which teacher encourages their students to become the Prime minister?

Which family encourages you to join the Defense force?

“That job is risky”, “All are corrupt”, “It’s not an easy job”, “You are Foolish, think about making money!”

I am sure these are the replies most got; I have heard all of them from parents, family, friends.

Then tell me, who will go change India? Who is that ‘future’ about which all talk? Where is that National consciousness seeded?

It is easy for anyone to give a prepared speech, anyone can become Preachers, but acting on it is the real task.

We all celebrate Independence day today, we wear white clothes, sing ‘Saare Jahan se acha’ , salute the flag, eat sweets and go home and enjoy the vacation.

Wake up people! Why did people like Subhash Chandra Bose, Mangal Pandey, Bhagath Singh and a million more patriots give their life away?

Is this what their sacrifice deserves?

Our minority of the learned Indian society is so insensitive that a petty issue like your favorite actor catching a cold is made an issue whereas the daily woes of Kashmir are made unheard.

We are all drowned in our personal lives, it is high time for all to act. Encourage people to bring a change. If possible, be the change.

If you question me, what I have done for my country? I will answer, I am still budding, and it will take me just some more time to get into the main rink of battle. But I do my best to be true to my conscious, which is foremost needed.

Just like Lord Krishna had advocated in the Universal doctrine, The Bhagavadgeetha, a war between the bad and the good is inevitable.

Let us wow to serve India in minutest of ways possible. And remember you may not make a huge difference but will surely create a small metamorphosis.
