Nanban……Most awaited and hyped movie in the Tamil Industry. This pongal is gonna be a treat of the trio – Shankar, Vijay and Harris Jayaraj. Though everybody knows that this movie is the official remake of the Hindi blockbuster “3 idiots” which is adapted from Chetan Bhagat’s “Five Point Someone”, the team has not disappointed the expectations of the mass making it a big hit…

Two friends Venkatramakrishan(Srikanth) and Sevalkodi Senthil (Jeeva) is in the search of their long lost buddy Panchavan Parivendan aka Pari(Vijay). On this journey, the movie runs through the flashback of their college day happenings…

The full marks of the movie goes to the character casting. Each character has been perfectly casted starting from Vijay, Sathyaraj to the peon character Indrans. Even though the movie is a frame to frame copy of 3 idiots, you can see the Shankar branding throughout the movie, remarkably in the songs. The picturisation of “Asku Laska” song is a delight to the eyes of the viewer which distinguishes this movie from 3 idiots, and the audience experience a flavor of the songs Sahana from Sivaji and Andankakka from Anniyan

Vijay has done a hatrick win with this movie after Kaavalan and Velayudham. He has tried something different this time and a word of advice to hardcore Vijay fans – don’t expect the usual punch dialogues and action sequences. Vijay-Sathyaraj combination tickle the funny bones of the audience. Ileana has made a strong comeback in Tamil after a long gap (Kedi in 2006) looking gorgeous as usual and has done full justice to her role, and her chemistry with the actor has impressed the audience. Excellent work by Harris Jayaraj with his peppy and soft numbers. Manoj Paramahamsa as usual has captured visual beauty at it best. In Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya, if he had captured the whole beauty of Kerala here he moved to explore the beauty of Dhanushkodi.

In short, Nanban is a pongal treat for Tamil movie fans… with a unique Shankar touch…. Those who have not watched 3 idiot will absolutely love this movie… others can feel the magic of Shankar in Rajkumar Hirani’s “3 idiots”

Verdit : Still FRESH…PongALL is WELL….. !!!
